Blogs I enjoy

Here's a little taste of stuff I like to distract myself with...

AUTISM AND PARENTING RELATED BLOGS

The Domestic Goddess
Marj is an hilarious and more-than-partly crazy mom to two autistic boys. Her blog is funny, heart-warming and totally awesome so run to check it out now.

Just a Lil Blog
As Jim puts it 'The true life adventures of an autistic little girl, and her struggles raising her two parents with only a big sister to help her.' Not your average autism parenting blog.

Savvy Advocate Mom
Lori writes a smart and interesting blog for parents who like to think.

Homestyle Mama (with a side of autism)
What's not to love about Mac and her brood. Huge family, huge heart and the smarts to go with it.

stark. raving. mad. mommy
I love Joslyn's blog because it's really honest, and covers the full range of parenting experiences which for her just happens to include ADHD, SPD and Aspergers too.

Yeah. Good Times.
Jill offers hilarious insights with awesome cartoons to boot.

Asperger's Diary
Lynne Soraya writes an always-fascinating blog on Psychology Today about life as a woman with Asperger's Syndrome.

Stimeyland
It's impossible to talk about Stimey without using the word awesome. She's a sweet, funny, helpful and incredibly smart mother to three equally awesome boys, one of whom is autistic. She also writes a wonderful column at The Washington Times called Autism Unexpected.

The Third Glance
E is a PhD student who writes beautifully about what it means to be autistic and the ways she navigates the impact that it has for her. I particularly love this post about echolalic hands, because I can relate to it so much.

Just Stimming
Julia Bascom's blog about life as an autistic adult is a must read. Powerful, insightful and moving.

Autism and Empathy
A really interesting blog that seeks to dispel myths about autism, with writings from autistic people and parents.

Prof Mom Esq
Super smart lawyer mom, her blog is "one part documentary, one part therapy and one part comedic relief".

The Squashed Bologna
Varda is hands down one of the best writers on the internet. Everything on her blog is incredible.

Adventures in Extreme Parenthood
Sunday's blog is worth it for the Special Needs Ryan Gosling meme alone, but there are so many more goodies to find in her archives.

A Diary of a Mom
I admire how honest Jess is about her own journey in understanding autism, both her mistakes and triumphs. Her posts are always very thoughtful and well written.

Autism & Oughtisms
If you're looking for a blog that's smart, interesting and jam-packed with useful information then head over to read all about Linda and her gorgeous boys.

Mostly True Stuff
Love, love, love Lexi and her gang. Funny and smart blog about parenting, autism and Down Syndrome.

Our Adventures With Riley
I just love Diane to bits. She's raising an awesome teenage boy with autism and has plenty of hilarious and honest things to say about it.

Flappiness Is...
Leigh writes honest, smart and funny stories about life with her son with autism

FOR TIMES WHEN I NEED SOMETHING ELSE

Karla's Closet
Ooooh, pretty clothes.

The Sartorialist

Often funny, sometimes poignant, always interesting.

Exclusively Food
I think I've made every one of these recipes and they've all been awesome (and I generally suck in the kitchen).  Seriously, these are no-fail and delicious.

Smitten Kitchen
If you can drag yourself away from the drool-worthy photos and actually cook something, you won't be sorry.  Warning: comes with a generous helping of calories.
