A Very Boba Birthday

Over the weekend we had an awesome party for one for Max's birthday.

We had a day of eating Star Wars themed foods (made from this cookbook) - the boys had great fun putting together the menu and writing out all of the ingredients that we needed to buy.

But by far the thing that both the boys look forward to the most on their birthday is the cake. One year I made the fatal mistake of coming up with something elaborate and original, so now they expect a similar level of awesomeness every birthday.

What's a girl to do?

Answer:  SARLACC PIT CAKE!

Well technically it's the Great Pit of Carkoon with a sarlacc in it. This is what it looks like in Return of the Jedi, just before it tries to eat Boba Fett...

It's the pits.

And because nothing says delicious birthday cake like a pit-dwelling tentacled beast... behold!

Mmmm. Death is sweet and tasty.

If you're not a Star Wars fan then it's likely that none of this makes any sense. But Max could not have been more thrilled with the cake and couldn't wait to eat it! It really made his day. Oh and here's a little safety tip when eating Sarlacc Pit cake... always remember to remove the spinities before serving.

P.S. I should have mentioned that the Sarlacc pit cake is not in the Star Wars cookbook (it came from the cookbook in my mind).
